Rebecca Barnard's practice revolves around intuitive abstract painting and organic sculpture and ranges from multimedia installations to single-media projects. Her abstract paintings reflect an enigmatic quality, driven by an intuitive process. They often chart a subtle path between abstraction and figuration. Rather than adhering to a predetermined structure, her work emerges organically, capturing the complexity of the creative journey. This dynamic interplay between intention and spontaneity makes the works both mysterious and expressive, allowing for open-ended interpretation for the viewer. The works teeter between balance and chaos, harmony and disharmony.
